Dave, well what can I say. I cannot believe you are gone, finally back with aunty Kathy and forever in my heart.
You have been such a big part of my life. My fondest memories are when you would pick me up from school and there would be a bag of gifts every time. Inside that bag would be lots of wonderful bits and there would always be a pair of funky tights, they would have colourful pom-poms on or glitter spiderwebs or super sparkly. I always remember how excited I would get when I know you would be picking me up and looking after me.
I will never forget going to gigs when I was little and being so tired I would fall asleep on your lap.
New Year’s Eve were always really fun especially the millennium when you and Kathy turned up with shiny headbands with 2000 on!
Dressing you up for the rocky horror show was hilarious and always going on the stairlift just to hear it sound like a train “choo choo!”
A very fond memory was Christmas time. Every Christmas Day morning me and my brothers would wake up in the morning with a sack full of pressies at the end of our beds. I would sneak into my brothers room and we would open the presents so excited that Santa had bought us gifts. Until one year when I got older I saw my parents putting the sacks into the boot of the car from your house Dave. That’s when I realise that Santa was actually you! I appreciated those gifts so much more knowing they were from you and Kathy!
I love how my children got the pleasure of knowing you and how Olivia always said “mommy when can we see uncle Dave?” And “can we go and feed the fish in the pond?”
You always said “yeah go on then babe”
These are all little things that made you such a special person in my life and in many peoples lives. You are greatly missed by us all!
I just hope you know how much I love you and I’d like to thank you for all of the memories you have given me.
Love you always uncle Dave!
